Graphic 45 “Bird Song” Pagoda and Mini Album

I designed this project the moment I purchased this beautiful paper collection from Graphic 45. The papers really spoke to me, most likely due to my Asian background, and simply because I fell in love with the graphics and colors in the paper design.

So, what took me so long to transfer what was in my head to what you see in the photos? Well, like many of us, I was working a very stressful job, and being a mom.  However, I always came back to my dreams of the Bird Song paper knowing one day I would have the time to bring my project to reality.

Everything I used for this project came from the “supplies” 😊 I have been collecting over the years since I purchased the paper collection. I had all the beading supplies from my jewelry making stash, more on the jewelry making in future posts, the colors of beads I had matched perfectly for this project.

Highlights from this project include, using Crackle Accents from Ranger on the cover birds and tag elements in the album; vellum for the Shoji Screens on the box; and interior fussy cutting on the inside bottom of the pagoda box.

I plan to post a video, or two in the next few days to show more of the pagoda box and album.

#G45Selfie Challenge Project: Altered Clipboard

Here is my entry for the #G45Selfie challenge for June. I am so excited about how this project turned out!

Selfie6Selfie5Selfie4Selfie3Selfie2

Once again, I used the beautiful papers and elements from the “Imagine” collection. In addition, I used the Graphic 45 Tag & Clock and the Large Tag, and Flower die sets.

I used a variety of elements to create this project. Including – Liquitex Modeling Paste, a stencil from TheCraftWorkshop.com (branch), Prima Patina Paste and Art Alchemy Metallique Wax Cire Cera, and Elizabeth Craft Designs #1140 Garden Notes Grapevine Wreath Square Die.

I base coated the clipboard using Gesso, then added the stencil with the Liquitex, on various parts of the clipboard making a random patter. I also added pieces of paper doilies randomly. I coated the doilies with some of the Gesso as well.

I cut all the die pieces out of black cardstock, then used the Prima paste to add the distressing. After fussy cutting some of the flowers and butterflies from the Imagine papers, I dry brushed the copper patina paste on the edges. I used all three patina paste colors to add more dimension to the paper flowers.

I distressed the Memory Glass frame using the same patina paste colors after first applying a coat of Gesso on the metal frame. I cut a piece of cardstock from the collection the size of the Memory Glass and sandwiched the cardstock between two pieces of the glass. I added some chain, which was also distressed with patina past to finish the look.

I distressed the entire clipboard using Walnut Stain and Crushed Olive from Tim Holtz distress ink collection.

I have listed sources below to some of the products I used for this project.

Graphic 45 “Imagine” Mixed Media Canvas

I designed this project using Graphic 45 “Imagine” paper collection and embellishments. There are so many gorgeous papers in this collection, it was really hard to choose which paper to use and even harder cutting the papers!

I used Prima and Ranger products for the distressing. It was the first time I used any distress product from Prima and I instantly fell in love with the products I used. I will share links to the products used for this project below. My YouTube video for this project is below as well.

The paper elements were created using a cut file I created in my Cameo. I used a 2” circle file and created a scored square inside the circle using my Silhouette software. The flourish designs around the canvas as well as the topper were also Silhouette designs.

The pearl brad accents are mostly from S.E.I. There are a few pearls that I had in my craft supplies (not sure where I got them from, it’s been too long to remember). The paper flowers come from my miscellaneous flower collection. However, I did cut a few tiny flowers from the Imagine paper using a Stampin’ Up tiny flower punch.

Projects and Craft Room Organization

Been absent from my blog. I have been working on projects with Graphic 45 Imagine collection. Hope to post soon.

In the meantime, I have also been working on organizing my craft room. About six months ago, my husband and I purchased a new home. Although I have moved my craft items and supplies into the room, I had not begun to organize. Last night I created these labels for the magazine holders that store my packaged supplies. Below are links to some the sources.

To achieve the look I wanted on the labels, I used a Silhouette label cut file. I created the text and removed the cut lines, then grouped the label and the text into one print and cut file. After printing the labels on medium weight cardstock, I ran it through on my Cameo. The even though the labels were “chalk” I the cut file, they still looked a little dark. So, I took some chalk and ran it across each label. I then took a soft paper napkin and removed some of the chalk to reveal a more chalkboard-like look. I used square adhesive pop dots to apply the labels to the magazine holders. I have a bank of IKEA Kallax bookcases (I’ll share a video of my craft room soon), that I store these in.

How do you organize your packaged craft items? Share your comments in the comment section in this blog.
